Walmart Fashion

Sounds crazy right?

Well, it's true. You can find fashion at Walmart, in fact, I believe you can find fashion anywhere! I always think it's funny when I hear someone say, "I don't want to spend the money on new clothes for myself." Really, you don't have to spend that much $ to spice up your wardrobe.
I will let you in on a little hint of mine...
I refuse to spend more then $20 on any article of clothing. Yep, $20 limit. There are a few exceptions however... shoes :) and jeans. It has become such a habit that I can easily walk away from more expensive items, because of what I have set in my mind. There have been a handful of times that I have found an item that I absolutely LOVE and I know I will wear a lot, other then that, I stick to the $20 rule. This means I spend a lot of time in the clearance section... or Walmart. lol!

Here are last nights finds from Walmart.

Everything I found was under $17

I am a little obsessed with color and printed jeans. They are so FUN to wear. If you haven't ventured out with them yet, DO! You will LOVE it.
They had a few fun long dresses like this one. I thought this one would be darling with your denim shirt I know you went out and bought last week after you read my post. :)
Or just a basic cardigan would do the trick too and flip flops.
I love, love, LOVE these. $16
You could pair them with this cute grey top...
or this one.
You can't go wrong with mint anything!
Striped blazers are so fun to pair with unlikely things,
like a rocker t-shirt or floral jeans.
Yes, mix your patterns, it's fun!
The fringe on this one is a little much, but I'm in love with skulls right now. I think this would be so cute with these shorts as a swimming suit cover up. Love it!!

I felt so silly taking pics of myself in the middle of the store, but I got super lucky tonight because they had a section of coats and hats that were on additional 50% off already marked down prices. I got this cute black coat for $4.50. I'm NOT lying! It's not super cute, but it's totally warm and perfect for the snow. So, I thought a picture with me wearing it was a must. :)
I went to Wal-mart straight from yoga, so this lil' hat covered up my messy hair perfectly. $3! I had to have it.

This lil gem came home with me too. I love her :)

I hope I have convinced you that you really can find fashion at Walmart and you don't have to spend a lot to get some super cute stuff. Try the $20 rule or push it a little and do $30 to see how it goes. It might surprise you what great deals you can find!

~Everyone is having their winter clearance right now, so make sure you are checking for coats for your kids for next year or new items for yourself~

I have a CRUSH on you!

I learned a few years ago
NEVER
go out to dinner on the actual Valentines night.
How unromantic is waiting over 2 hours to eat or even get a seat.
So you and your "Crush" stay in make dinner or order take-out
then with dinner make cute cotton candy mocktails.
If you have kiddos these will be very kid friendly.
What kid, or adult, doesn't like cotton candy drinks?
Cute for a teacher's gift also.
{printable tags below}
I have a CRUSH on you printable tags.
We have a "Crush" on you, we wouldn't leave you without a
Just Plane Cute free printable tag.
 What?
You don't have a cotton candy machine at home?
haha, either do we, buy your cotton candy tub at the grocery store
with all the other Valentines candy.
Crushing on these sweet Valentines drinks.

For our Valentines dinner at home we are doing
cheese fondue, chocolate fondue and
these Mini Strawberry Crush Mocktails.
Just Plane Yummy!
Happy dining in!
I have a Crush on you tags
sized 8.5x11 so you can print at home.
Right click to save as.

We think Valentines is a day of spending time with your crush!
Not waiting in long lines, sitting in waiting areas twiddling your thumbs
waiting for a table.  Our tags will perfect for your romantic night in,
or for anyone you are "Crushing" on.

XOXO

Burlap Mini Interchangeable Banner

When deciding to make a burlap banner we thought let's make a
neutral one that you can interchange between holidays.
Why make 100 different banners?
Make one neutral background and change out the embellishments.
Now that's Just Plane Smart!
Our mini burlap interchangeable banner.
The great thing about making your own is being able to custom adjust the size.
More pennants, less pennants, bigger ones or smaller ones.
And you can make it fit your frame, or mirror, etc.
Regular burlap found at JoAnn's on sale for $2.99 a yard.
Cut your triangles out any size you desire.
 Burlap is messy folks!
Don't wear black, and cut over something.
We also slightly burned our edges to stop the fraying.
BE CAREFUL!
You can easily light it on fire, remember lightly burn the edges.
Handy dandy glue gun for the ribbon.
Glue your burlap in the middle and fold the ribbon over evenly.
Leave some on each end for hanging.
We found this burlap-looking chevron ribbon at Hobby Lobby
for .99 cents, and it was 50% off.  Score!
Doesn't it look just like burlap.
Perfect for your banner.
We would always say use an odd number of pennants
whatever size you are making.
 Here comes the interchangeable part.
Using mini clothespins we clipped our shamrocks
{pre-cut in a bag at JoAnn's $1 section}
These shamrocks also have sticky backing so you could stick them if you wanted to.
Why cut all those shapes when you can buy them for $1,
plus they are thick and feel sturdy.
Let your imaginations run wild.
You could spell Luck, or Lucky, or Irish
on your banner.  Use alternating colors of shamrocks,
you get the idea, the possibilities are endless.

Same banner now for Valentines day.
This heart is from a pack of table scatter glitter hearts found at the Dollar Store.
Who doesn't love some glitter?
If you want specifically a Valentines banner choose a ribbon
that is your color or theme.
 Wahsi tape!
We are loving all the endless ideas on how to use wash tape.
Perfect for hanging your burlap banner on your frame.
You can see how many ways your banner will transform.
We are thinking mustaches for Father's Day, eggs for Easter,
stars for 4th of July.  Are you loving the versatility of this burlap banner?

Burlap is so fun to play around with because virtually it is a blank canvas.
We love the idea of one cute background being able to be
used for many holidays or parties.
We also can't wait to make a bigger version,
would be darling with painted XOXO on it.

Happy crafting!

Must Have!

Hey everyone!

It's g, from g shopping bag

I wanted to share with you one staple item that I have in my closet. This item hardly ever, if ever, is actually hanging up in my closet. As soon as it comes out of the wash I am wearing it. It goes with everything and is constantly in style all year round.

It's my denim shirt!

Crazy right?!

When the trend first started I thought people were nuts. See, I'm old enough to actually remember when the denim shirt first started. {lets not say how long ago that was

I was nervous about following this trend because someone once told me...
'if you wore the trend once, you are too old to wear it again when it comes back in style."
Well, I think that statement sucks! And since I have never really been one to follow the rules, I thought why start now. So I caved in and bought the denim shirt. I found mine at Ross for $12.99 at the beginning of the summer. However, they are EVERYwhere and come in many different styles. Here are a few cute ones I found last night.
What I like about this one is the slight discoloring of the denim. I wouldn't buy a solid colored denim, because it feels too 90's to me, but some of you may be able to pull it off. I would stick to a cowgirl stitching style, discoloring, 3/4 sleeve buttons and pockets on the front or a longer back tail to wear with tighter pants.
I love, love, love this denim shirt from Forever 21. It gives it a little more punk feel, but is still neutral enough to go with everything!
This one would be so super cute with some fun leggings!
Here are a few ideas of what I wear with my denim shirt...

{sorry these pics are horrible. I just discovered that the lighting in my bedroom sucks. I will have to move my long mirror somewhere else next time.}
It's such an easy shirt to throw over anything. If you don't have one, get one!!
I promise you will end up wearing it with everything and you'll look cute too. :)

I will be celebrating Valentine's Day out of town next week,
so I will catch you all the week after. Have a Happy Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine Shadow Box

A shadow box makes for a perfect holiday decoration.
I had this cute "Love Life" print and stuck it to the back of the box then started decorating (there's a million possibilities) I went through all my Valentine decor deciding what I wanted to throw inside the box.

First. Pick a print for your shadow box.

Second. Find something you can hang from the top. I picked this heart shaped ribbon, I got from the dollar section at Target.

Third. Choose something you can scatter at the bottom of your box.
I went with my cute colored hearts from the Dollar Store, I bought last year and two bigger glittery hearts I bought this year at the Dollar Store.
