Wolrd Market Inspired Chair

I have had my eye on this chair from World Market for a long time, but couldn't bring myself to buy it.

I was thrift shopping and found a chair almost just like it, same material, color and everything. I just knew I could figure out a way to make it just like the one from World Market and cover the buttons for a pop!

I chose my material and only had to cut them into about 1x1 squares.

I did not take the buttons off or anything crazy like that, all I did was tuck the material behind the button. If the material wasn't fitting tight then I took scissors and poked around the button to tighten it.

Wha-la All finished!
I get so excited every time I walk past this chair, the buttons just pop and make it so much more fun to look at!

A party fit for a princess

It was a royal affair for our
Princess Elliette,
who turned 5 and celebrated with a
royal bash.
The chalkboard invitation.
Ellie was very involved with the planning and color scheme
for her party.  Pink and purple, her favorite colors.

 Waffle bar.
I poured the syrup into a cute glass milk glass.
Who says the syrup can't be cute too.
Powdered sugar was put into a sprinkles shaker and label pulled off.
Who doesn't love some kind of food bar?
It is fun to pick all your favorite toppings.
We had a lazy susan with lots of fruit to pick from,
including cheesecake whipped cream.
{1 pkg cheesecake pudding
mixed with one cup of milk, set for an hour.
Then combine with whipped topping}

Let me say the Nutella, banana, whipped cream and sprinkles combo was perfection.

Who says popcorn boxed only need to hold popcorn?
The little princesses loved the heart waffles.
 Refreshing lemonade bar.
 Princess gumball necklaces.
An enchanting cake for the princess.

Happy 5th Birthday sweet Elliette!

This little princess celebrated in royal style.
We are loving the ideas of doing any type of food bars for the party.
Easy to serve, and guests love picking their favorite toppings.
I often when planning a party think of a color, or color combo
first before even the theme.
Like right now I am obsessed with the color combo
gold and mint.  Pre-warning may see that pop up some time soon.

4th of July subway art

With 4th of July just around the corner I started bringing all my holiday
decorations up to decorate boldly in red, white and blue,
but I noticed I had a pretty old Subway Art print and thought we needed
to create something to print.
Something a little more festive and updated.
So here you go!

Wizard of Oz themed 3rd Birthday Party

We recently threw a birthday party over the weekend.
It was Wizard of Oz themed
with lots of "over the rainbow" accents.
We used popcorn boxes and filled them with tortilla chips
for our nacho bar.
Popcorn boxes in all the colors of the rainbow..and more
found here.
 Our nacho bar.
Toppings included:
Nacho cheese, chili, corn and bean salsa,
olives, salsa, green onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and sour cream.
Any kind of "bar" is fun to let people build and creative their own.
And toppings are always fun.

 Help yourself my pretty....

 Lazy susan with nacho toppings.
 Jalapeno shot cups.
For those who like to kick it up a notch.
No Place Like Home treat bags for the guests.
 The Emerald City Cakepops
were a huge hit.

 Dreams really do come true...
especially with this over the rainbow cake.

 The birthday girl,
our little munchkin
turning 3 in Wizard of Oz style
 Entrance to the backyard.
This pennant was fun, larger than we thought, but very "Dorothy"
found here
Letting our guests they are not in Kansas anymore.
Gingham and rainbows everywhere.

Sometimes when hosting a party it is hard to come up with what type of food to have.
If you are cooking you have to time things just perfect,
which can be very stressful on the big day.
We think any type of fix your own bar is fun for the kids and adults.
It can range from ice cream bars, to nacho bars and waffle bars.
Your creativity is the limit.
